John Robinson is a Certified
Business, Life and Leadership Coach. His experience of over
thirty-four years with NASA in engineering, project management, supervision
and mentoring have led him to a new career as a professional coach. John came to coaching from the best possible place - being coached
late in his career at NASA. Now, as a professional coach, he
partners with people who are ready to open the door to what's possible
in their career and in their life.
John has partnered with his clients to improve leadership skills and presence; design effective alliances with peers and subordinates; “manage up” to more effectively support superiors; achieve guilt-free balance between work and home; clarify values and purpose; go back to school to start a new career; clarify relationship issues; plan for retirement; find a job; and transition to new positions. Many of his clients go on to, as one of his clients said, "impress themselves".
John’s coaching clients have included NASA and non-NASA federal employees,
domestic and international corporate clients, private sector clients,
students and retirees. He has over 950 hours of coaching experience,
and has been a NASA external executive coach since March 2006, coaching
managers and executives at Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Headquarters. In addition to his individual clients, John conducts workshops and
retreats for corporate, government and private organizations. He is an Adjunct Instructor of Business Coaching in the Business Management
Department at Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia, MD, and
trains HCC faculty and staff in coaching skills as part of the Step
UP student coaching program.
John has been
certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International
Coach Federation and as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC)
by The Coaches Training Institute (CTI). He is a graduate of the yearlong
Co-Active Leadership Program, and has been trained as an Organization
and Relationship Systems Coach by the Center for Right Relationship. John has also been trained and qualified to administer and interpret
the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) assessment. He is a
Member of the International Coach Federation and the D.C. Metro ICF
Chapter.
John has been featured on WNBC-TV and in the Howard County (MD) Times and The View of Howard County. He is a published poet, writer and photographer. A lifetime Maryland resident, John currently resides in Union Bridge, MD with his wife Marie. They are the proud parents of daughter Erin and grandchildren Connor and Meghan.
